With the Beta starting very soon, and lots of bugs to report, there are other things that need to be fixed, mostly imbalanced gameplay. For those things, this thread is your way to go! In addition, if you have ideas for features, you can also post them here. But please, only stuff that is firstly doable and secondly only ideas that won't leave a big impact on the gameplay, only smaller things. And since it is hard to keep track of everything that go requested, the next Post will follow with a list of all the Ideas and Improvements that got requested, accepted and denied! I hope all of you will enjoy the Beta of PixPet! Disclaimer: This Thread will stay open even after the Beta has ended, so if there are still things that weren't discovered during the Beta, you can still request changes |

Member Early Adopter Feb 22nd, 2018 Posts: 18 Pixpets: 0 Pixdex: 0 | 5 Years ago Sep 17th, 2018 - 7:13 PM Nr. 3 #542 1hello! pixpet is adorable so far. it's nice and idle and i really love the art and mechanics. ♥ the egg hatching mechanic in particular is super exciting! especially when you have no idea what's going to come out, but it does spawn a concern i have with a lot of games that involve lengthy waiting times like these. if the item or feature that's barred by your very first period of waiting time can't be obtained much faster than usual or even instantaneously for tutorial purposes, then a portion of players are going to walk away and lose interest or forget about the game entirely. in this particular case, since the pets are the main draw of the game, it's an especially big detriment to have a user's starter locked behind what i'm guessing is well over a twenty four hour wait period, just going off on how much progress my starter egg in particular has made over the course of the past two and a half hours or so. a new user ought to have their first pet to play with during their first play session of the game, which, based on pixpet's idle nature, would probably be anywhere from five to twenty minutes. this will more effectively teach users how pets function in the game and why they're well worth waiting for, making them a lot more likely to return time and time again to patiently collect more. to reiterate, i'd propose either a dramatic shortening of the user's starter egg's hatching time, just that one time, or some kind of prompt within the existing tutorial that hatches it instantaneously after you place the egg in your house. thanks in advance for the consideration! i can't wait to see how the game evolves as we go. |

However the starting experience is also a bit dry because there isn't really much game development generally. (Empty Markets, no general knowledge about Pixpet hatching times yet etc.) |

Color: The color of the Pixpet. A Pixpet with the color "cyan" can only find other Pixpets with the potential for this color. Also it can only find cyan colored items. There are 16 different colors. Myself (and some other people) thought that the color group impacts the physical color of the Pixpet, but apparently they all look the same regardless of color. I think there needs to be some clarification to indicate that the color group does not alter the pixpet's appearance. It might be more accurate to call it an affinity or element. |

I'd like to lend my support to this! I think it's very important, as several people in the discord have also had this problem (including myself). I think the name 'color' should be something like affinity, element, alignment, or something else. Or! This may be more work but, it would be a lot of fun if 'color' actually did indicate a palette swap (along with the current benefits)! So in a nutshell, if palette swaps are added, I think it should stay as 'color'. If not, I think it should be renamed 'affinity' or something like it. |

I would personally love it if the color DID change the colors of the Pixpet itself, so that each species had a few different sprite possibilities. It would make Pixpets feel much more unique and interesting in their individuality, and add some longevity to the collecting aspect of the site! |

Because of the pixpet interaction lotery mechanic, it's probably going to become quite common to go through profiles from that column, and all these new tabs can make things... Very cluttered, very fast. Edit: shoot just came across the "you cannot interact with pixpet more 3 times per 24 hours" thing. Sorry, that kinda makes it mattera lot less :") second part of post on colour still stands though I also agree that the way the colour is explained at the moment is misleading, so a rename/explicitly saying that it doesn't change the pet's colour would probably be better (also, differently coloured sprites would also be really cool, thoughI understand that could complicate things in the pixpet storage, pixdex and asset creation side of things) |

If you want to limit how many times we can switch names, maybe let us rename for free for the first time, then charge us for other renames. Or make the naming process for your Pixpets more "obvious". Put it on a seperate page for naming, instead of the top. Redirect us there via a link or button. It feels like a lot of people didn't know they were naming their pets and ending up with default pet names. |

I would estimate about a month worth of work for this for all pets. Maybe when the patreon income is high enough I can commission someone to do it. But for now I would rather spend a month to create more pets. However I'm open to change the term, but I'm unsure what the best term would be. Likely "Element Color" @jakdacrowe Pet name changes will be supported in the final release! |

Most every site that I've been on if not every site has utilized user shops. Auctions are nice but knowing in certainty that you're going to get an item rather than being outbid is always nice. I didn't actually see one so only reason I'm suggesting this. Deposit Box.. About 3/4 sites I've been on with limited item space have utilized Deposit Boxes, where you can store items you want to keep but don't have current use for. It's very useful so I'm suggesting it for this one. While it is possible to manage item space w/o a Deposit Box, it is also a very useful feature! Item Donation Area. An area to donate items for other users to pick up. Self explanatory I've seen this utilized several times as well~ If any of the above are implemented - Quick Stock. If we get a shop/deposit box/donation/(and add in discarding items), Quick Stock just makes it easier to do all of this in bulk. Bank. If people like myself have a tendency to impulse buy something, they won't want to carry a bunch of Pixcoins on them. The bank/vault/whatever you want to call it is useful for storing them. Trading area. Trade items/eggs in multiple amounts. Allow people to put things up for offer for other items. An option to gift items/Pixcoins. Simply send an item or Pixcoins to another user, without having to trade them. All I got for now |

Reduces the need to actually have user shops. |

If the site gains a larger active userbase, a maximum of 3 interactions is far too little. That, or decrease the amount of time you have to wait before you can interact again. |

If my math is right, I think mine dropped 3 points for missing the time interval by an hour - I'm mostly thinking this makes maintaining grade and managing watering kind of difficult especially before and after sleeping (and/or if you have work or something, if that makes sense). Or maybe implement some kind of semi-automated sprinkler system that you have to charge/refill with water at a longer interval. |

Ashmee basically said everything I had on my mind. I think it would also help if all the pets had basically the same hatch time, just so everyone has equal footing. Not sure if this will be noticeable with shorter hatch times, but others like myself who picked an egg that took much longer to hatch is already a bit behind on hoards compared to others who also started as soon as the beta launched. Also to reiterate on the colours. Yeah, to be honest, I thought the 50% Brown, 50% Blue was actually about their colours, not that they have a 50% chance to be assigned either at birth. I mean it makes more sense now, I was wondering why you were telling me the percent at which the colour is present on their bodies xD Okei, So on to my actual ideas. Sorry if I get really ambitious with these? I have no experience with coding so I have no idea if any of these are way out of scope. More just my wishlist, if you will ;; v;; User Page Features: I know 'about me' sections for the user has already been suggested but I just wanted to add on some things. Obviously, an area for people to add some flavour text and introduce themselves when you view their profile is very important. I think it would also be nice to have a friends list. And maybe a highlight pet area or 'featured pet'. That we can pick a pet to showcase on our profiles. Other features that might be nice, a comment section for people to leave comments on your profile. A recent forum activity. Because if you're like me, you use this all the time to re-visit forums you just posted to. Pet Pages: I find with most pet games, you want to make your pets your own, and you want to show them off. I just realised you can't even click on other peoples pets when you visit their page. I'd love to be taken to a separate page where you could view them individually, and maybe read tidbits about them that the user has created. I think lore and personalising your pets is a really important part of a pet site, without that you're just sort of collecting pictures with no substance. And since everyone's pets are going to look the same there's even less of that. Even if for now it just means that other people can view them the same way you can when you visit your Pixpet Inventory? (If this already possible and I'm just dumb and can't figure it out, I do apologise ; v; ) Time stamps for Badges: Kind of a minor thing, I think it would be a neat idea to archive the date we receive achievement badges. i.e. Earnt 17th September, 2018. Or something like that. Badge Feature: I have yet to exceed any limit to the number of badges that will display alongside your user profile on the top right. So not sure yet how this feature works, but I would appreciate a way to arrange/select which specific badges you'd like to showcase and in what order. Proper Friends List: It seems friends are just automatically accepted, with no notifications when people try to friend you? Not sure if this is a bug or just an interesting take on friends lists. I would prefer a proper friend system if it was the latter? Forum Signatures: Pretty self-explanitory. Move Some areas: I only just realised the credits was listed under the forums and help. Honestly my first guess to look for it was at the bottom of the page next to the contacts. Or if it could have it's own area. Just seemed weird to me to have it tucked away in the forums hub. Same can be said for the userlist. Maybe the two: userlist and the credits, could have their own tab? User made content: OK, so this one I know for a fact is waaaaay more ambitious, and I wouldn't normally lump this in with the others since I think the above are more important for the short term. I'm just putting this here for more of an interest check and maybe just to raise the idea. But like other pet sites, I like to frequent, there is usually some way for users to create their own art, like skinscents in FlightRising, or accessories in Dappervolk. I think any system to allow artists to create things to enhance their experience or to turn a profit would be appreciated. |

First up Beginners care package. Right now it comes with pumpkin and plant seeds, 1 piece of each types fertilizer, and the basic decor for your house. Id Iike to suggest in addition a sample of pet food. So that you can use the hoard feature when your pet hatches rather than not really having anything to do. Second up An explore feature. We have interaction which is a nice stepping stone, but an explore feature so that we as the user can obtain raw items or things to convert into food would be nice to have, again, just to help alliviate some of the click and wait weve been up to thus far. |

An explore feature has been discussed (I only know this because I popped the idea into his head far before the beginning of the beta over DM, even providing screenshotted examples from other websites XD)! I do not know if Komodo actually plans on adding any kind of explore and/or battle system, but this was discussed some time ago (and he only ended the DM on saying he'd investigate further into it). I fully support this and hope maybe at least in the far future once the basics of the site have been implemented, that an explore system gets added! |
