As you might have figured so far, this special event is about designing your very own Pixpet! This might be the only time the event ever happens, so do give it a go regardless if you think your design will win or not. As for the event itself, you will be creating a design or evolution (or even a devolution) to be added into the game!

Ground Rules:
*Everyone is able to enter! (Besides the judges of course.)
*Only one entry per person with group entries being disallowed. Multiple entries will result in all of your entries being disqualified.
*Designs must adhere to the Pixpet Guidelines
*Designs must obviously not be copyrighted work, and do remember all Pixpet characters belong to Komodo.
*Design is the most important part, drawing talent is nice but not required to enter or win.
*The contestant agrees (by entering the contest) that the final product is full property of the pixpet.net owner company. However, the species idea/design credit will be given out in the game.

The winner for this competition will be chosen by three judges, who will be scoring in three categories on a scale of 1-10. The judges will not be scoring on the quality of any art visuals submitted.

Categories:
*Creativity: This category will be a rating of how well your design manages to make do with the limitations placed on it, but still remain interesting.
*Uniqueness: This category will be a rating of how well your design stands out compared to already existing Pixpets. You can design an amazing Easter bunny, but we already got one.
*Harmony: This last category is about how well your design fits within the Pixpet universe and how it feels like it belongs.

Prizes:
*1st: A copy of your Pixpet egg, an event badge, and a exclusive item themed around the created Pixpet.
*2nd: 100 Pix Tickets and a blueprint
*3rd: 50 Pix Tickets and possibly a Giant Pencil

Do entries have to be pixel art or can we enter with standard digital art?

Komodo will be actually drawing the designs in the end, so whatever art provided will be for refence only. Also, you can just enter with a very detailed description instead of any art if you wish. Art is only if you want to.

Although I am excited to the see the designs that result from this contest, I'm slightly worried about some of the implications of it. Although this article refers to copyright law in the U.S., it does mention principles that might be extended to the similar laws of Switzerland, and the lack of any legal text in the announcement post (which are referenced in the Promotions segment of the Terms and Conditions) means that it doesn't seem to explain how the exact transfer of copyright will occur from the creator of the design to the site. Additionally, some sites have brought up the possible ethical questions that may arrise from spec contests, none of which are addressed in this thread. If I were to participate I would need to hear more about exactly how my rights are being handled, especially given the lack of direct monetary compensation.

Neato! I like this site. I'd have no problem with giving it the rights to a no strings attached design. It's a fun way to give if you win!

The guidelines speak of Patreon supporters, does that mean us non-Patreons can't join in on the blueprint? If so, that ruined my excited mood.
