Just curious if anyone has felt compelled to make a fursona character, either in art or as a fursuit, based on their own pixpet?

Are there any legal issues surrounding this, such as use of someone else's intellectual property to create or adapt something to make it your own?

I was thinking along those lines but as you suggested; we would need the interpretation on the copyright laws according to where @Komodo has set these up. Would they extend to exact replicas and names or even so far as to be mere likeness or aspects of the creatures created for PixPet.Net?

When I saw my first adoptable egg hatch, I thought it was a puppy with a unicorn horn and I thought that would make an awesome fursona character. Now that I've found out it's actually a bear cub with a unicorn horn (I don't know why the name didn't make that clear to me in the first place), I wonder if I tweaked it slightly to make it more dog like but kept the horn, would this character be in breach of copyright infringement even if I named my fursona species PuppyCorn?

Of course, I would not go around saying I created the character if I can say I built my fursona either directly from or inspired by a game creator's or artist's designs.
Maybe now I will draw up my PuppyCorn character

It's possible that I could do it, sounds like a fun idea!

I mean, I've seen Digimon sonas, Animal Crossing sonas, Neopets sonas, Pokemon sonas, characters based off of Stitch's cousins- so why not?
