- ATTENTION -
This guide is in the process of being updated
to reflect the release of Pixpet Adventure.
Thank you for your patience!

Last updated on May 7, 2021.

The first half of this guide is about every method by which Pixcoins (PC) can be acquired. The second half is about the best ways (in my experience) to make PC at different stages of the game, including when you first start! If you feel that I've missed something, feedback is appreciated.

The first thing that's important to know is where PC comes from!

How the Server Generates PC

Hoards - One of the primary ways to make PC. Evolved or legendary pets will double the amount of PC received, while twice-evolved pets will triple it. For quick reference, pets that can evolve twice are Velibolt, Igupunk, Pangox, and Shileo, so you may want to aim for one of these pets early on (note: Shileo is a bit more difficult to evolve twice, so I recommend one of the other three first). A Wealth Potion can also add on to hoard earnings, up to 50 PC for a grade 100 potion.

Item Sellback - This is a button within the Item Inventory (Items tab > Item Inventory) that's near the top of the page, and simply labeled "Sellback". After clicking this, you should see checkboxes next to your items, and their sellback prices. Capsules need to be opened before they can be sold. Selling items back to the server will give you very small amounts of PC, typically 1 PC for non-decoration items, and varying amounts for decorations, but still not much. However, this adds up quickly if you're consistently selling a few things from every hoard, and can sometimes be better than selling to other players since there's no waiting involved.

Egg Sellback - This option is located on the Egg Handling page (Pixpets tab > Pixpet Egg Handling), and is the leftmost button labeled "Return Egg". The sellback price for eggs is shown within the button next to each egg. If you have a lot of eggs, this is going to be your favorite of the sellback features because you get a decent amount of PC even for common eggs.

Pixpet Lottery - Also known as pet interactions. Players who have at least one available pet (not on a hoard) will display a "Play Lottery" button on their profile. When you click this, you'll also have to click a second button that says "Give to <username>'s pets" in order to complete the interaction. You'll be awarded with either pixcoins, plant seeds or food pellets. The food item that you "gave" to the player determines the rarity or quantity of your prize.

Gaining badges awards you 10 PC for each badge. You can check the Pixpet wiki for info on how to acquire each badge. For badges involving auctions, keep in mind our rule that we don't allow players to use the auction feature with the intention of getting badges (rule 1.8). Auction-related badges must be gained through natural use of the auction feature.

House Sellback - I wouldn't recommend it, but it's an option. This is located under the Housing tab > My Houses > click the sprite of the house you want to sellback, and scroll to the bottom of the page to find the "House Sell Back" button. The server will give you 50% of what the house is worth. It's more profitable to auction a house, but if you need PC immediately for some reason and have an extra house, this'll do.

Login Streak - You'll gain a small amount of PC for logging in each day, which will cap at 7 PC. If you break your login chain, the reward resets to 1 PC.

Forum Points - In boards where the post count is enabled (listed below), you'll receive one forum point for each post you make. These points can be converted to PC at a rate of 3 points for 1 PC. To convert your forum points to PC, click the Forum & Help tab > Points, and in the field that says "Pixcoin Amount", enter the amount you'd like to convert. If you get an error, you may be trying to convert more points than you have. To find out how much PC you can get from your points, divide your point balance by 3. You can also receive forum points by posting comments on artwork in the Pixpet Gallery (Gallery tab in the forums). However, although forum points are fun to accumulate, always make sure to respect every thread and don't spam!

Boards that have post count enabled are:

  • PixPet News

  • Game Guides

  • Site Help and Questions

  • Site Bugs

  • Suggestions

  • PixPet Discussion

  • General Discussion
  • Item Funding

  • Art Shops (Commissions)

  • PixPet Artwork Share

  • General Artwork Share

  • PixPet Writing

  • General Writing

  • Roleplaying

  • Roodoku - This is a Sudoku minigame that you can access from the arcade area (click your Pixpet Arcade Tokens, one of the currencies shown under your avatar), and it's the only minigame that awards PC currently. You can earn up to 150 PC if you complete a puzzle in under 10 minutes, and a maximum of 450 PC per day. Just remember to use your tokens if you want PC!

How to Sell to Other Players

And of course, the other way to make money is to sell stuff to the community.

Private Sales - Near the top of the Item Inventory is a button labeled "Create Personal Trade". Clicking this will cause the same button to appear next to each of your items. Click that button on whichever item you'd like to sell to a specific user, and then you'll be taken to a page where you can enter the user's name. After doing that, click Search User. Sometimes you may have to select their name from a dropdown list if it's too similar to another user's. If you did everything right, their avatar and username will appear, along with parameters for price and quantity underneath. Once you've set these to your liking, then click Send Trade Offer, and the user will receive a notification about your trade. If they accept or decline the trade, you'll receive a notification saying so. If you want to cancel the trade, it must be done before they accept/decline it, and you can do this by going to your Items tab and clicking Personal Trading. On this page you'll see your open trades, and a button that says "Revoke Offer". Click this to cancel a trade. Be aware that unsolicited (not asked for) trades are against the rules.

Usershop - You can add stuff to your usershop (which is displayed on your profile) by clicking a button near the top of your Item Inventory, labeled "Add to Usershop". Parameters will appear next to each item when you click this, which allow you to set the quantity and price. If you'd like to sell single units of an item, then it's important that you check the box that says "Sell Single Units"!

Item Auctions - You can place an item up for auction via the Item Inventory; it's another one of the buttons near the top of the page that's labeled "Add to Market". By clicking this, each item in your inventory will now display several buttons that allow you to set the starting bid, auction length (in days), and quantity of the item. Once you've set these, you can click the "Add to Market" button to the right, and then it's placed on the public auction house!

Egg Auctions - Similar to item auctions, but instead you're going to find the option on the Egg Handling page (Pixpets tab > Pixpet Egg Handling). On this page you'll see the sorting options. Underneath these are three buttons; the one that you want is "Add to Market". Once clicked, you'll see buttons next to each egg that are nearly identical to the item auction buttons. The only thing missing is the quantity buttons, since you can only auction eggs individually. Set your desired parameters like usual and then click the "Add to Market" button on the right!

House Auctions - You'll probably only use this to sell the house that you just moved out of, unless you want to flip houses. The option is located under the Housing tab > My Houses, and select the house that you want to put on the market by clicking its sprite. Right below the house part overview is the Market option. Auctioning a house is a bit unique compared to auctioning other things because there's a 10% fee to list it. Be careful here because if you overprice your house (say, twice what you originally paid for it), then you'll pay an expensive listing fee, and your house may not sell, which means wasted money!

Player Services (via the forums) - Such as art commissions, evobar-making services, potion-brewing services, etc.

    Tips for New Players

To clarify: these tips are for players living in the Starter Hut,
Small European Rowhouse, New Luck Bungalow,
    or Woodland Bungalow.

  • If you've never played Sudoku, it's time to learn how because the Roodoku minigame is going to be your best friend. You can make a minimum of 300 PC a day (a lot!) even if you're bad at it, and a maximum of 450 PC a day if you're good at it. There is no other PC-making method on this list that will net a new player this much money this easily on a daily basis.

  • Be selfish. Sell most items back to the server (except pumpkin seeds). Don't worry about evolving your pets just yet. Some people may suggest putting items on your usershop or the market and then advertising your goods, and this can help to some extent...but in my opinion when you're in a beginner house, it's just too early to be waiting on auctions and hoping that people will buy your (probably) low-grade/common items. Selling to other players will become more profitable and less uncertain when you get your first midgame house (European Lakeside House, Modern Two Story House, Renovated Farmhouse, or Designer Two Story House).

  • Your starter pet is your slave. They must be hoarding at all times! Well, whenever they're able to. You want to get those levels up so that they'll bring back better stuff--and most importantly, more money! And since they need food pellets to hoard, you want to make sure that there's always a pumpkin growing in your backyard. Don't forget to replant as soon as you harvest. Interact with other people's pets every day for a chance at extra food pellets. If you run out of pumpkin seeds, interact with eggs. Always combine seeds (Cultivation tab > Combine Seeds) for those high grades!

  • Pay attention to new item/decoration/pet releases, because if you're lucky enough to find any of these on the day or even the week that they're released, you'll want to auction them off ASAP because endgame players will tend to slam down large sums of money for these.

  • If you're artistically inclined, a great way to make a lot of PC (or even PPT) quickly is to open an art shop in the Art Shop board on the forums. A lot of artists tend to price their work between 500 and 1000 PC depending on the commission type (headshot, half body, full body, flat color, shaded, etc.), but you don't have to use those prices if you think your time and effort are worth more. I've seen artists price commissions at 2000 PC and still get plenty of traffic. Then there are some artists who simply do PWYW (Pay What You Want), and the complexity of the commission is determined by how much you pay them. This is a good option if you're unsure how to price your commissions.

  • Dream big! Don't go for the first house upgrade that you're able to afford (no offense to the Small European Rowhouse, you're beautiful). You want more pet slots. More pumpkin slots. More plant slots. Because all of this translates to more MONEY!! I personally recommend the Woodland Bungalow as your first house upgrade, but I won't judge if you pick the New Luck Bungalow. Something that has at least more than one pumpkin slot is good.

  • Tips for Midgame Players

To clarify: these tips are for players living in the European Lakeside House,
Modern Two Story House, Renovated Farmhouse,
    or Designer Two Story House.

  • Still playing Roodoku? Good, because it's still going to help you a lot!

  • Start working on evolving your highest-leveled pets. This is going to mean spending money on evobar ingredients, either by searching usershops (via the Market tab > Usershop Search) or bidding on auctions. It will be painful, but it's a worthy investment because once your pets are evolved, they'll bring back twice as much PC from hoards. By the way, you can find the evobar recipe list at the bottom of the Evobar Baking Station (Cooking tab > Cooking Stations > Evobars Baking).

  • Time to make Wealth Potions! This means reserving at least two plant slots for Giant Clovers. You might also want to plant Dragonfruit for Potion/Evobar Ingredient Potions, so that you can hunt for Lucky Beans, which are an ingredient of Wealth Potions that can only be found on hoards. Your pumpkin patch is about to need special attention too, because now you need two things from it if you're going to make Wealth Potions: Sprouting Pumpkins to make Lucky Bean Stew, and full-grown pumpkins that are the same color as whichever pet that the potion will be used on. There will be days when it's tough to juggle feeding your pets and saving pumpkins for potions, but it's part of the challenge. Anywho, do your best to produce/find your own ingredients for Wealth Potions (with the exception of Cooking Oil, which can only be acquired from the Basic Ingredients Shop) because if you have to buy all the ingredients, it defeats the purpose of the potion!

  • Start working on maxing out the SLVL in at least one room of your house. Max SLVL for rooms is 70. It'll be tempting to auction rare decorations that you find, but you definitely want to place them in your house to raise the SLVL, because a higher SLVL increases the chance of finding items on hoards, as well as the quantity of finds. Not all of your pets will be able to make use of 70 SLVL yet because your pet's SLVL can't exceed its current hoard level, but it's another good investment because eventually you'll have level 100 pets, and you want your house to be ready for them.

  • Depending on what house you're in (such as the Renovated Farmhouse), sometimes you might actually find yourself with an excess of pumpkin products. If this is the case, put them on your usershop or auction them, because pumpkin products are always in demand. Sprouting pumpkins especially are pretty profitable because every potion recipe requires them! Grade 100 Sprouting Pumpkins tend to go for about 30 PC each.

  • Keep an eye on Search threads in the Dealers Den, or if you're on our Discord server, watch the #dealers_den channel. People want stuff, and you might have it. If you find someone who needs something that you happen to have, ask them to offer a price if they haven't already (or if you're confident enough about pricing items, you can offer one yourself). This is a good way to get more business if your usershop and auctions aren't getting much attention. If you can't bring people to your shop, bring your shop to the people!

  • I'm copying and pasting a tip from the New Player Tips, since some midgame players might not be aware of this: pay attention to new item/decoration/pet releases, because if you're lucky enough to find any of these on the day or even the week that they're released, you'll want to auction them off ASAP because endgame players will tend to slam down large sums of money for these.

  • Tips for Endgame Players

To clarify: these tips are for players living in the Historic City Apartment,
Riverside Mansion, 19th Century Urban Villa, Italian Villa, Fjordland Villa,

or Loire Chateau Porte de Bretagne.

  • Eh? You're an endgame player and you still want money? I like your enthusiasm! If you have the Riverside Mansion or beyond, money will pretty much come flooding in just through regular gameplay, but if you still want tips anyway, we got 'em!

  • If you're not sick of Roodoku yet, it's always going to be near the top of my list.

  • Velirex. Iguroar. Doeliath. Veplurex. These are your gods now. Assuming that you're in a really big house (otherwise you wouldn't be reading endgame tips), you want to work on getting two or three of each of these guys--or just an army of Velirexes; variety isn't required. I recommend growing your own Lucid Evolvulus Flowers for their evobars because I find that not many people sell them. In other words, fill up your house with massive moneymaking beasts. At level 100 with 100 SLVL, these pets will bring back 84 PC each hoard (without a Wealth Potion). Now multiply that by however many of them you sent out! They burn through a lot of food though, of course, so as usual always make sure there are pumpkins growing in your backyard. I hope you didn't pick the Historic City Apartment.

  • With your plant slots, there are a few different routes you can take. Wealth Potions are an even more profitable venture now that you have a lot more plant slots, but if you want to change it up, you could alternatively start a produce shop and just grow a large variety of plants. The plants that tend to be the most profitable are Voxel Fruits, Trinuts, Evolvulus Flowers (both regular and Lucid), and Tricolor Flower Petals. You can also grow plants specifically to make and sell evobars, which are always in demand because some players don't want to make them themselves.

  • At this point, you probably have a lot more wiggle room with your pumpkin patch (unless you bought the Historic City Apartment). Pumpkin products are forever in demand, so it's a good idea to sell them!

@BK47 Thank you for the advice on which early-game house to pick! Unfortunately, after saving up for and buying the Woodland Bungalow, I felt kind of empty and in need of advice. What mid-game house should I pick?

I'm happy to hear that my guide helped you pick a house ^^

As for midgame houses, my personal favorite is the Renovated Farmhouse. It has 6 pumpkin slots, which means you'll be able to hoard more and worry less about food. Other midgame houses only have 2 or 3 pumpkin slots, which would slow you down. It's up to you, though! Good luck

@BK47 This might sound weird, but which mid-game house do you advise against buying, and which late-game house do you recommend?

    That's not weird at all

You might've guessed, but pumpkin slots are everything to me when choosing a house, because of how important food is to gameplay, and the fact that pumpkins have multiple uses.

With that in mind, I'd say that the European Lakeside is probably the weakest of the midgame houses. It would downgrade your pumpkin slots, which makes its other features sorta pointless (for example you'll have more pet slots, but probably not enough food to send them all on hoards every day).

As for a good endgame house to start with, the Riverside Mansion will always be my favorite because of...*drumroll*...its 7 pumpkin slots (surprise! xD). It also has the largest backyard of all houses, which is fun to decorate. From here you'll have enough moneymaking power to shoot for something higher, like the Italian Villa -- which technically has less pumpkin slots, but more power than the Riverside Mansion. It's confusing, lol

Let me know if you have more questions ^^
