So I once brought up my confusion over the existence of SPC in a large suggestion post on the original mass suggestion thread (before this subform existed) here (#5). I don't remember ever seeing a response to that particular point and after taking a long break from Pixpets and coming back recently, I still have the same concerns. I hope now that the suggestion forums exist maybe a discussion can happen regarding it.

This feels like such a minor thing to talk about, but I think that just gives more credence to the idea that SPC is redundant and possibly shouldn't exist. As it stands, SPC is used to purchase one thing:

Super potions.

The only way to get SPC is to convert PC or PPT. This is simple enough but why? Why do we need to convert other currencies into a currency that is only used for one thing? SPC can't be sent to other users like PC or PPT, it only exists to be converted into and then used to buy potions. I feel it's redundant because it's an extra and unnecessary step in this process.

Being able to purchase these potions with both PC and PPT is wonderful, it means players who don't want to donate for PPT (or trade for them) still have access to these features. But if that's the goal, why not just have a section of site where players can directly purchase these potions for PC or PPT? It's the exact same process, but missing the step where you have to convert currencies. It also helps prevent players from accidentally converting more than they needed, or fat fingering the purchase button (note that the counter is set one 1 by default when you enter the page!) while on mobile or by accident. There is no confirmation asking if you're sure you want to permanently convert your PC/PTT.

1. Wanting new players to have access to Super Potions when they start out.

Counter: New players can be given a selection of Super Potions similar to how they are given neutral hoarding potions. Also wanting a currency just for this reason seems a little silly.

2. Wanting an "event currency" that can be given to players for placing or participating in events.

Counter: PPT seems a much more positive and useful prize due to the amount of things they can be used for. Also if you really want to give out Super Potions as prizes, just directly give out the potions.

3. Wanting a set in stone PC to PPT ratio

Counter: This would still exist if 'shop' existed for super potions where they can be purchased with either PC or PTT.

If the plan for SPC is to add more content that you want available for both PC and PPT, I again just have to point towards how much more convenient and sensible it would be to simply have some kind of npc store where you can use either of those currencies to purchase said items.

When I first joined a few days ago I saw this thread and tentatively agreed, but didn't exactly have any stronger feelings than that. Now that I've had some time to play and feel out the mechanics, I wholeheartedly agree. I love super potions because they're (relatively, for what they accomplish) cheap, accessible, and make the basics of the site flow a lot smoother. Juggling currency is a pain in the neck though, especially because I never convert more than I need, meaning every time I want to buy a super potion I have to navigate these sub pages. To some this might sound small but I do it often enough that the straws start stacking up on the camel's back.

I agree, SPC seems redundant, and I'm with NuVonde in that I never convert more than I'm going to immediately be using. At the very least, the option to convert PC to SPC should be on the SPC page. It's not intuitive to have it on the PC page, and it can be annoying having to hop extra pages to buy something with a seemingly pointless currency.
