First a foremost, with all the negative feedback, especially on our discord server, NFTs were removed from the website. Komodo was not aware that NFTs had such a bad reputation in the general audience. He simply saw it as another way of monetizing, since - that is if you remove all the negative reactions - NFTs were gaining strongly in popularity since the start of 2021.



All links to the NFT auction site have been removed. The auctions can't be cancelled, so we decided to let them run out.
As for the foreseeable future, monetizing through anything crypto-related will not be a thing.
In addition, new means of monetisation will be communicated with the community instead of being announced out of the blue.

We are deeply sorry for all the inconvenience and concerns the announcement has caused.

There were NFTs? I was never aware of that.

oh, i didn't even know there was a thing. but given how strongly things are worded in the few things i saw talking about them, i would say you did the smart thing.
being anywhere near a wreck like that... a wee new place such as this would have been sucked down in the undertow of proximity.

I'm glad this was addressed. I was worried that the NFT announcement would simply be removed and swept under the rug as if nothing happened. And to be quite honest, I'm surprised that Komodo (or whomever else wanted to make NFTs) wasn't aware of the negative aspects of NFTs. I'm willing to believe it was an honest mistake though.

Thank you for taking tjis step, NFTs seem to be a cool new way to make money, but it got such a long rattail of bad effects on nature, its just irrespondible.

Also kinda useless since you can save the picture and thus make the value literally zero as everybody can own the picture

I don't think there's merch yet, but from above I see there's some talk about real life pixpet plushie shops... I'd love to see merch some day, but it's probably not priority now. omg if the person who then owned them didn't allow us to use them anymore, there would be no pixpets... scary thought.

While I know very little about NFTs, I don't believe Komodo would've sold the ownership of each Pixpet design. I think the NFTs were just a way of selling a "minted" version of each pet's sprite. But don't ask me how that works, lol

There was a news post on it for like 30 minutes before it was taken down after feedback.
