When you say bookmark a post, do you mean saving a specific post within a topic? If so, one way you can do this is by clicking the Nr. 1 #44881 button in the top right of your post (or any post). This will open the post by itself on its own page, and you can bookmark it in your browser.

On the other hand, if you mean bookmarking a whole topic, this can be done by clicking the "Follow Topic" button located above the first post in any topic. A list of topics you're following can be accessed by clicking the Forum tab (right below the Forum & Help tab -- I know it's confusing, sorry xwx).

As for the forums' search function, admittedly it's a bit primitive since it only searches titles and tags. What I do when I want to search the forums is go to Google and type:

site:pixpet.net "search term"

However that searches the entire site for your term, which is a little too broad. So in the end I do support your suggestion for the convenience, and because the ability to search the content of posts I'm pretty sure is a basic function of most forums.
