The worldbuilding is incredible and the art has a lot of charm. It makes me sad that it doesn't have much of a community anymore. I remember back in 2020-2022 it was a lot more active (but still not really thriving). There were auctions aplenty; I remember getting into a lot of bidding wars. The forums were buzzing, especially the forum games. Nowadays, auctions are sparse and the forums are so dry that they go months or years without seeing any activity that isn't spam. It feels like the majority of the accounts on this site are inactive, including most of the staff. BK47's back must be sore from carrying this site. I think a lot of players were turned off by how insanely tedious the main game is. Hoards take quite a while (especially for high-level pets) and aren't guaranteed to bring back the stuff you want. It can take years to get enough PC to buy a nice house, and months to get nice furniture/decor for it. Evolving pets is also a very lengthy process: 1. Get lucky enough on hoards to find all the ingredients for a potion of evolution, a base evobar, and the specific evobar 2. Grow evolvulus flowers, evolution fruit, and your pet's specific plant (don't forget to water and harvest them!) 3. Go to the cooking stations and prepare all the stuff you need (which could take hours) 4. If you want to evolve a vivid pet, make sure you complete a specific quest in Adventure to get the item it needs 5. Give the evobar to your pet (but make sure it has a high enough grade or all this work will have been for nothing) Adventure is pretty good, definitely worth a playthrough! The story is great and the battles are fun. It's not really worth multiple playthroughs, though. Even though it tries to encourage you to play with multiple pets, 99% of the content is the same for all pets. The release of Adventure definitely helped breathe some life into Pixpet and got some new people to join...but they didn't stick around for long, sadly. I miss when Pixpet was less dead. ![]() |

BK47's back must be sore from carrying this site On the occasions that you visit the site, I appreciate how thoroughly you think about its current status and offer an honest critique. I'm really sorry to hear that you're leaving. You brought a lot of life to the forums whenever you were around. I can't claim to read minds, but I like to think that anyone who takes the time to write a post like yours is someone who cares enough about the site to say something. So thank you. Regarding your comment about me carrying the site, I can understand why it appears that way since I'm the most vocal staff member and I've picked up a lot of Cherche's duties related to community management. It's also really flattering to see a player acknowledge my dedication to the site, so I appreciate that. However, I can assure you that I don't carry the site; the art team contributes a lot during the cooler months (summer months are difficult for all of us, admittedly) and Cherche still uploads new pixpets, which is a surprisingly complex task. Totodile still runs the Discord which I'm very thankful for. I've also become less engaged with the site over the past couple years because I decided to start taking college classes, so even I'm not around as much. I think it's also important to mention that Pixpet is an indie game that was carried by one person for a long time before he decided to hire anybody, so I consider us lucky to have any sort of team even if it's small. I completely understand how depressing it can be to come back to a site and see that the community isn't as talkative as it used to be, especially for those of us who enjoy the forum aspect of browser games. I consider it partially my fault because I don't host events as often as I'd like to. However what I'll say is the forums and Discord aren't necessarily a good indicator of our active playerbase. Many players just play the game without ever using the forums or Discord. This isn't to say that we have a massive playerbase hiding in the shadows, but the gameplay is a mostly solo experience that doesn't promote forum use, so it's hard to know how many people are actually playing the game regularly. I wish I had access to the internal analytics so I could offer more insight, but unfortunately I don't. Give the evobar to your pet (but make sure it has a high enough grade or all this work will have been for nothing) I'm a little surprised by some of the stuff you've said here since a couple of these are old issues that have been fixed, like the max length of hoards and how long it takes to get a nice house. You can get a Riverside Mansion in about 10 days if you just play Baluna's Biscuits everyday. Max length of hoards is 1d 9h 20m; if that sounds long then I'm not sure what to say. Pixpet is an idle game after all. What I can agree with is how hard it's become to find specific decor, which is due to the decor pool getting so big that every item becomes rarer. At one point we were working on a decor shop (for the arcade) to help with this, but it was put on hold. Otherwise I'm not sure how to fix it since we have to make new decor no matter what. We're open to suggestions. Another thing I can agree with is the difficulty of evolving pets, although I'm thinking more of newer evobars with new ingredients. It's been a long time since I've had a completed pixdex thanks to the large ingredient quantities needed for newer evobars. At the same time I understand Cherche's logic for doing this; endgame players are more likely to have a lot of resources piled up and we want evolutions to feel like an accomplishment, not too easy to get. Older evobars I don't see as an issue since you can bypass the whole process you mentioned by just buying them from usershops. Personally I like the process of waiting for plants to grow and hoards to return, but it's another subjective thing, idle games yada yada. I'm glad to hear you like the adventure mode and I agree with most of what you said. For me it's the level grinding that makes replaying the adventure difficult. I just don't have time to sit down and do that, which is unfortunate because it means I'll never see certain parts of the game. However I have to remind myself that the adventure system was a big undertaking by a tiny indie team (again) and I think it's amazing that they even considered replayable elements at all and then implemented them. Quote by: @Pudding2019 I miss when Pixpet was less dead. I'd argue that a game is only dead when it shuts down, but I understand where you're coming from. I've always believed that Pixpet being a browser game is what has kept it from success. Granted, if it was remade as a mobile or Steam game, it would probably need a major glow-up, like animated sprites, better customization for pets, maybe a fancier-looking UI, etc. But just having it on a platform where it's easier for people to discover would be beneficial in general. Thank you again for voicing your concerns! |

I used to love Pixpet, and I still really like the art and the lore with every species having their own personality and cool abilities. The introduction of Adventure kinda shook up the lore, though. Before Adventure, Pixpets were animals who lived in the wild, preyed on each other, and could be domesticated. Now they are people who have houses and jobs, which raises some ethical questions about humans keeping them as pets as well as what carnivorous Pixpets eat. I used to spend hours on Pixpet each day and got super hyped when I found a legendary egg or rare decoration. I remember coming up with lore for each of my pets and what they did on their hoards. Adventure was a fun lore-writing opportunity as well. When pixpals came out, I spent so much PC on the pixinyte market trying for a full Pixpaldex. (Funny how it still has the NEW! label on it when pixpals have been out for 2 years.) I didn't realize the tedium has been softened, sorry about that. I guess I just have a lot of nostalgia for 2019-2022 Pixpet. ![]() BK, thank you for everything you do for this little corner of the web ![]() |
