Hello! I noticed we have a bunch of threads for individual sites, but then I got an idea of making a discussion thread centered around discussing browser games and adoptable sites in general! So, I suppose the entire point here is you can discuss what games you've played, what games you've tried out (and your opinion, potentially), or share some games you've seen.

For myself, I've had long-term play times on DragonAdopters, Valenth, Felisfire, Flight Rising, and here, of course! The games I've tried, but never got into, include Subeta, PokeFarm, Lioden, and Cybura as well as a few other adoptable websites I can't recall the name of. I'm currently waiting to try out Dappervolk!

I loved Valenth. It as one of the very few sites I was ever one that not only have a diverse range of pets to choose from, AND a story I was heavily invested in. Valenth was so awesome, and I lament being too young to fully appreciate the texts and love that went into that website. I was never quite sure what happened to it, but I've always wanted to see something just as invested Valenth was in its lore and community.

One of the things that always stood out to me was their plot not only involved the NPCs of the website, but gave room for the community to influence the story. That, to me, was always really, really incredible.

Something about them being difficult in finances was what I last heard of it. I left the site when shinies went rampant. I heard it went further downhill from there when they added the Genderless potion for public purchase. It made some older users upset since genderless pets were coveted since they shouldn't be obtainable anymore. I wasn't around to see its downfall, however. :(

Also I feel you on the story, I was really young back then so it was all a blank. But I know its cool since they are one out of the many adoptable sites that have a diverse story to it. Honestly if I were to set up my own art group at some point later, Valenth would be my biggest inspiration and I would do my best to replicate that!

Oh dang, I completely forgot about Magistream! I made the account there a long time ago and got into it for a little while, but I think because I was just a kid, the donation exclusive pets discouraged me from having a pretty collection, so I stopped playing. I've always really like the art style, but I have no idea how the site has been since, what? 2010? It's been a while seen it was first released.

Iv dug into many a site and lioden and picket are my two favorite so far I was in alpha testing for Dappervolk and I’m overly exited for evosaur and wolvden

They are two new sites that are still being worked on, the one who started lioden in in charge of both

i'm similar to peabuns, i usually focus on just one site at a time haha. i've joined a ton over the years however! my main sites have been a few odd balls though, probably because i tend to gravitate towards smaller communities.

i started on anatheria when i was 12 (unsure if its still active but its been around for Years), then i moved to a really chaotic site called petrpg. it was an absolute mess but i still went on it for 3-4 years (and even became staff)! it shut down a couple years back, but i'm surprised it lasted so long considering the owner jumped ship about a year and a half into development.

and my last big site was kaylune, which was a more recent browser game that i also joined the staff of as an artist. kaylune was really fantastic! it was a small community but had a ton of fun lore and art. unfortunately it also had to shut down around the middle of last year due to lack of funds. :(

and now i've been hanging out here the most!! pixpets has definitely been a more casual endeavor, but i enjoy logging on daily!

Hm, as someone who played through the beta, but isn't exactly that great at describing stuff (heck i wouldn't call myself a good critic either) i guess i'll give a mix of my opinions and common stuff i saw in the suggestions at the time (sorry it's a little long hdhshs just peek under the spoiler)



umm there's other stuff, but most of it can be summed as "bare during beta, most likely getting fleshed out once the site is more fully developed/opens again" though, so i don't see it worth it to go into great detail since that's to be expected from an incomplete game, and i don't wanna make this any longer than it already is shsuhs i think it's good that you'll be starting out with the more polished version though, if that is the case. personally i think it has a lot of potential to be fun and unique, and i really wanna see how they pull off the house feature bc it honestly sounds cool. hopefully they make it more worth it to bond/interact with your pets, too, since aside from the avatar customization, i'd imagine they were a pretty big part as well for people getting into the game (bc who doesn't like cute pets? i loved my pumpkin puppy....)

Art Direction:
I honestly had a bad experience with Dappervolk. First off, the art style just rubs me the wrong way. I know they were trying to cut corners by making the avatar androgynous so they wouldn't have to redraw clothing items for different bases. So, unfortunately, the avatars look like doe-eyed, passive young girls. I'm seeing this from the perspective of a straight woman who has an art education. I don't want my avatar to look like a passive, doe-eyed little girl. Why would I choose to identify with that?

If they would include different eyes or something to change the avatars' expressions that would probably be a great help. I haven't kept up with the site, maybe they have already included such a feature. Ideally, they would have more than one avatar base.

The art is executed fantastically and has really high production value and consistency, but I find it grating even when I look at it now. I'm trying to see past my first reaction and I do appreciate the ... kind of sorrowfulness and quietness the avatars have. I plan on giving the site another chance when it opens, but I don't know if I'll be able to stick with it.

Does anyone mind telling me about that one griffon petsite? I don't remember what it was called. When I went to their site they really wouldn't let me know about anything unless I registered.
