If you're reading this, you're probably interested in learning more about Pixpet. I have participated in the Beta since it started, and since the actual game is going to be open soon, I decided to make a guide on how to approach the game.

Pixpet is not a complicated game. The basic premise is to obtain various Pixpets and send them out on hoards to get items. Each Pixpet has a color group that affects which items it can find. Note that the color group does not influence the Pixpet's actual appearance. Each species also has a specific lifting capacity, which determines the range of items that it can find. For example, a pet with 0-30 WU lifting capacity can only find items with a weight between 0 and 30.

You can grow pumpkins and plants too. Pumpkins can be converted into food, or they can be used in potions. Plant products have a variety of uses. A list of recipes can be found at the bottom of each cooking station (Cooking tab > Cooking Stations).

Pixpets have a satisfaction level (SLVL) which is calculated based on two main factors: the items in your house, and interactions you have received. Users can go on your profile page and interact with your pets to get an item, pixcoins, etc. If your pet has a low SLVL, it probably won't get good items on a hoard. Some Pixpets can evolve as well. Evolution changes its appearance, lifting capacity, and re-rolls its color group. You'll need an evobar to do that, but it takes a while to get one, so don't bank on evolving your pets early in the game.

Now I'll explain a few things that I wish I knew early on during the beta:

- In order for an evobar to work, it must be of a certain grade. First evolution evobars need to be at least grade 30, and second evolution ones need to be at least grade 60. The grade is determined by averaging the grades of all ingredients.

- Related to the point above: don't bother growing low-grade Evolution Fruits or Evolvulus/Lucid Evolvulus Flowers. They'll drag down the grade of your evobar.

- The grade of any plant/pumpkin cannot go above 100. Using fertilizers that increase the grade do not change this limit. For example, using a +20 grade fertilizer on a grade 90 pumpkin seed will only increase it to 100.

- Your Pixpet will not find straight-up furniture. Instead, they'll find capsules, which contain a random furniture item. Neutral capsules can be found by any pet, and contain plant pots.

- A pet's hoard time (in hours) is determined by its level divided by 3, except for level 0 pets, which have 20 min hoards.

- Your pet's gender has no influence on gameplay.

- There is now a gifting/trading feature. You can also give away items by selling them in your usershop for 0 pixcoins.

- You can't trade Pixpets that have already hatched. You can only sell Pixpet eggs on the auctions.

- Speaking of eggs, your Pixpet may find eggs of pets that share a color group. This includes finding eggs of its own species. Velibolt and Igupunk do this a lot.

- Some plants take FOREVER to grow. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend investing in plants like the Dragonfruit Cactus or Lucid Evolvulus early on.

- Pumpkins have short watering times (12 hours). If you sleep too long, your pumpkins might dry up and their grade will start dropping. :/

-Potions help your pet find better items on hoards. You can equip up to three at once, and the higher the grade, the better its effects will be. Here's a thread that explains potions

-Evolved Pixpets find more pixcoins on hoards.

- You can't move a pet when it's on a hoard. When it's resting after a hoard, you can't move it back to your inventory until it is finished resting.

- The number of pets, pumpkins, and plant pots you can have in your house/yard is determined by the type of house you have. Here is the house market.
