I vaguely remember Komodo rejecting the idea of a battle system, but I daresay he might be more open to the idea if it reused a mechanic we already have. I can't really speak for him though of course, or promise anything.

Personally I'd rather have a whole new system if we're going to have a battle system. Just not sure how to make it different from other petsites' battle systems. If Komodo is worried about violence, maybe it could have the appearance of a card game. It wouldn't necessarily require new art assets aside from the card's background itself, because once you have that, you could just slap every existing Pixpet sprite on it. But again, my brain is currently useless when it comes to the actual details of the system. I'll probably come back to this thread after some thinking. Either way, any sort of battle system would certainly make the game more interesting; I don't think anybody can deny that.
