Hey, welcome to the game! Well, something you can do if you haven't already is use up your six daily profile interactions (a.k.a. Pixpet Lottery/egg interactions). What you do is go to other players' profiles and if they have any pets that aren't on a hoard at the moment, you'll see a button at the top of the page that says "Play Pixpet Lottery" or something to that effect. Click that and you'll be shown a random piece of food or candy, which determines how good your prize will be. Then click "Give to <insert name>'s pets" and then you'll receive a prize, which could be anything from plant seeds, to food pellets, to pixcoins. You also have another type of interaction that counts towards your six interactions, called an egg interaction. If someone has an egg, you can help it hatch faster. That button will be right next to the egg itself. Egg interactions only give pumpkin seeds, but it's the most reliable way to get pumpkin seeds, since hoards don't guarantee them. An easy way to find players who have eggs is to go to the Hatchery thread in Site Discussion.

At the moment I can't think of anything else a new player can do. One thing I recommend though is make it a priority to save up for a new house, because your progress will speed up significantly once you're free of the starter house. And a good way to save up money is to open up a shop thread in the Dealers Den and start selling the stuff that you find on hoards. Though it can be hard to know how things are priced, so if you don't have the motivation for that, you can also use the Sellback feature (under the Items tab) to sell your items to the server for 1 PC each.

Thank you! I have done the interactions yesterday, before I really knew what they were, but they should be back this evening for me to do again.

A game with more waiting will probably end up being more healthy for my productivity, if I get into it. That way I can work on my artwork in the spare time rather than grinding for virtual currency.
