Recently I was thinking about how I never want my pixpets to stay at home; I always want them hoarding!

Hoarding is essentially the biggest mechanic of the game, but it results in pets always being away. I think it would be a fun touch to give pixpets something to do if they're NOT hoarding and resting, as an incentive to have them spend a little more time at the house.

So here are my ideas regarding events for stay-home pixpets!

While a placed pixpet is available (not hoarding or resting), they would have a random chance of getting an 'event'!
You can tell if your pixpet has an unaddressed event by seeing a small icon appear in their status bar:



When you click to that pets profile, there would be a popup at the top, detailing exactly what the event was that the pixpet had!
The events could be absolutely anything, here were just a few that I thought up that seemed like fun ideas:

Random item pickups!

• Usually small / common items


• Maybe extremely rare chance to pick up an egg


• Possibility to have event specific items, only available through these popups!

Pixcoin finding!

• Usually just picking up a couple coins


• Extremely rare chance of finding a super pixcoin?

Plant / pumpkin watering!

• Chance to have your pixpet water your plants/pumpkins


• Wouldn't happen too often but could possibly save a plant from losing grades

Small HEXP gain!

• Chance to have your pixpet gain a few extra HEXP points


• Could have multiple different possible events for this

Interaction events!

• These events don't actually 'do' anything, they just add personality to the pet!


• Tons of possibilities for the flavor text of these events


• Could add fun touches to pixpet lore

Ending notes:

• Only one event can occur at a time, events must be 'addressed' before a new one can occur.


• Maybe some events that can happen while a user is offline, and some that only happen while the user is online and active?

I'd really love to see something like this a part of pixpet someday, so that I can keep a couple pixpet babies home snug with me most of the time :')

this would be great! big support. it would be really great while you're waiting for slvl interactions fpr a slvl 100 hoard. my dream, though, is for available pets to be able to play mini-games

It would be cool if every week was an ingame event for a specific pixpet species(or group of specii) and this cycles around. How about that?

@Ricohard I believe the point is to help break the monotone of the game, and sometimes even small, fun things like this can bring a lot of flavor to a game. Take Lioden for example, another "pet" (well more like you play as a lion but you still have to care for your pride) site. On there, there's a chance you can get small little random interactions when visiting your lion's page. They don't do anything to benefit you or your pride, but I still appreciate them being there because they add personality to your lions and make you feel that you're really the leader of a pride. Neopets was another site with random events that sometimes gave you neat items (though they also had negative effects as well) and that was something I and I think others enjoyed about it.

Maybe it may not seem worth the trouble now (I honestly don't think this idea is a stretch), but it could be something that could be nice to have in the long run as one of the worries that often got brought up when I was more active was that the site wasn't engaging enough what with everything being on a timer and hoards taking almost a day to complete, but I think that's gradually being improved on with minigames becoming a thing. Basically, I don't see a point to throwing away this idea yet and that there's still a little hope. Mechanics can still be worked and improved on and this take a lesser priority even, but that doesn't mean it can't exist at all, unless Komodo says it's never happening or can't.
