I primarily play Pixpet on a mobile device- my Smartphone to be exact. So I looked through the forum and thought it might be a good idea to add a topic for the discussion of improvements for mobile users...



To start off this topic, I want to address the issue of the Pixpet arcade games.


I have only been able to play the games on my Smartphone a few times but from the times I did play, I remember there was little-to-no mobile support; the controls were... Not mobile friendly. If i remember correct the pyadeer deliverer had SOME kind of functional GUI interface working but the controls were very very hard to use.

To improve this I suggest that a robust mobile friendly GUI be made for Mobile device users FOR the Pixpet arcade games.
To add onto that: if it is not possible to add a GUI to the Pixpet arcade games, then why not make a unique game that is specifically designed to support mobile app users

Fortunately, Komodo has optimized the majority of the site for mobile browsers, in the form of larger buttons, more readable text, and generally making the site look better on mobile screens.

But I see that you're mainly referring to the minigames, and admittedly, two of the games (Sunobra Chase and Pydeer Deliverer) were made with PC players in mind. Pydeer Deliverer does have controls on mobile, and you can fullscreen the game to make it easier to play, but the mobile controls don't work properly -- at least for me, pressing one of the directional arrows simply makes Pydeer jerk slightly in that direction, but holding the button does nothing. I'm not a dev, so I'm not sure how easy or hard it would be to reprogram those games to be playable on mobile, but I agree it would be nice to have more games designed for mobile users.

On the bright side, Roodoku works great on mobile (even though I get an error at the beginning, it works for me anyway), and it happens to be the only minigame so far that rewards pixcoins. Then there's the upcoming Pixpet Adventure, which is being made especially with mobile users in mind, and it's not just a minigame either, but something much bigger. I have run it in the past on this phone, but maybe it is because i changed some of my phones settings in developer mode recently in order to test an app i'm making... did rooduko get updated any time in the past 4 months?

Edit 2: After looking more closely at your screenshot, the little white box in the center that I thought was blank actually has an error message that says "Please note that Unity WebGL is not currently supported on mobile. Press OK if you wish to continue anyway." This is the same error that I get. Before trying anything else in this post, just press OK and see what happens. If it works, the next thing you'll see is a loading bar. It might take about 30 seconds to load the game.

@Gabe
So my next question is a dumb one: did you let the page fully load? I ask because I see in your screenshot that one of the site banner ads has loaded, but the other one hasn't (it's the yellow rectangle on the right). This makes me think that the page didn't fully load, and maybe the game didn't have a chance to load. Try waiting a full minute on that page to see what happens.

Second question: do you have WebGL enabled? You can check by typing chrome://flags into your browser and search for webgl in the search box. You should see something like this:

If it says disabled, go ahead and enable it, relaunch Chrome, open Roodoku again, and wait another full minute. Let me know what happens!

-you must have the eyesight of an eagle or something, I didn't even notice that lol!

I guess I should change my suggestion to say:
'Set the font color of arcade games error message text to a darker font color for mobile interfaces(when using dark/night mode)'.

-thats assuming that everyone else who sees the error message, also views a white box and not a different color box, :p

You're right, the white error text appears to happen only in Dark Mode. I'll let Komodo know about it...
