It's been a while since I last played so maybe I'm just forgetting to do something?

I've tried searching for this question and I couldn't find anything, so I hope it hasn't been asked already? None of the guides specify what I might be doing wrong either. (I think? I hope I checked all of them... :x)

I'm looking at my empty pumpkin plots on the Cultivation page, and I've got some fertilizers I'd like to apply to them. I know the fertilizer has to be used before planting any seeds, so I click on the drop down menu marked "Use for:" and I can't select any of the Cultivating slots! They're all greyed out. My plots don't have any fertilizers already applied to them, and there are no Pumpkins planted. They're completely empty. There are no other buttons in the fertilizers list/menu that I can interact with. What am I doing wrong here?
