I've been trying to get back into reading recently and I'm wondering what everyone likes to read? I've been rereading the Wings of Fire series.

Just finished Crown of Feathers and it was stellar! Can't wait for the next book to come out next year. Makes me wish there as a phoenix Pixpet.

Also been reading the Witch is When series which is quirky and easy to read when I'm busy with a lot.

I've been borrowing the Bartimaeus books from a friend lately. Currently I'm reading The ring of Solomon, which is a prequel to the first book The amulet of Samarkand, but I read that one first. I like the ring better, since it's mainly Bartimaeus and his character is very enjoyable (living life with a grain of salt). Didn't really care much for the secondary main character in the amulet. If you like alternate history with a slice of magic (and a unique system at that), I'd definitely recommend this series.

I read wings of fire too! Can't wait for The Poison Jungle. Ugh, July 30th is so far away...

I'm currently re-reading a childhood series that I never finished(borrowing from a friend) called The Unicorns of Balinor. I've also started re-reading Harry Potter—in between bits of Balinor.

Recently got into The Trials of Apollo, if you've ever heard of Rick Riordan's Heroes of Olympus or Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It's a third installment of the series, but you don't even need to know the other two to get into it. I never read Percy Jackson, and only got the first book for Heroes of Olympus. I think it's the best of his series, because he just seems to get better writing as he goes along(not that his earlier works were bad). Although he's taking forever on the next Apollo book, uuuuugh. I got into it too early, even though it's finally coming soon in the fall, I believe.

@McRololo If you like The Bartimaeus Trilogy, then I recommend you check out the Lockwood and Co. series by Jonathan Stroud if you haven't already. I absolutely loved it. It's less magic-y and more ghost-busting, sword-wielding teenagers that are witty, charming and very much snarky.

@LaWombat I read the first chapter online just now and it really sparked my interest. The way Jonathan lays out his worldbuilding through his characters is fantastic (and their snark is enjoyable to read). Definitely will check out the rest when I get the chance, thank you!

I'm two-thirds of the way through Red Mars. it's an imaginative telling of the first colonizers on mars and how they work together (or in opposition) to make mars a place for humans to live. the characters are complex and heartbreakingly human. it's a bit of a complicated read if you're not science minded because the author really did his research... there have been several times i've had to pause and google wth he's talking about, but it's worth it. the book is grounded in realism that way, so the things he's making up really seem like they could happen some day. an excellent read!

Inferno by Dan Brown was intense, I'd recommend it! I personally didn't want to stop reading since it was so interesting.
