Skylanders wasn't bad?

I think it was genuinely one of those things that was overhated and underrated. The later games got ridiculous and silly, but I'd say the first 4 games, especially the first, were genuinely good games with cute lore and cool character designs.

Yeah Spyro was ugly but so was Legends Spyro. And Original spyro isn't exactly perfect looking... I feel like people had their nostalgia glasses on and felt it was "cool" to hate on Skylanders.

The reason I mention it were there were more dragons than Spyro, and I thought the other dragons had better designs than Spyro himself... Don't believe me? Look up Drobot. That was sick.

Cash grab? Yeah, but you genuinely didn't NEED every character.

Spyro has always been a favorite for me! I used to spend hours changing his color in the old version, pretending each color was a different dragon helping Spyro! (I got good at entering that code, it was scary!)

Dragonfable is a good one too! But it has it's flaws. Though it's a single player game, it has an unhealthy separation of haves and have nots. You're reminded quite frequently when you don't pay for the premium item that unlocks all of the features. But I've been playing this game for almost a decade, and I love it! You technically only have to pay once, so it's just like buying the game.

Then, there's Skyrim. I know, I know. "They're not dragons, they're wyverns!" "The main goal is to kill the dragons, why would you want that?" "You can't even play as a dragon!" It's just a good game, okay? I love the dragon language they use, Dovahzul (Drem yol lok! Zu'u los Ruthodstrun. Tinvaak ko dovahzul drun zu'u haalvut med faal Dovahkiin!) I have the mod to keep Paarthurnax alive, because he is best dragon... next to Odahviing... and Durnehviir.... My bois! <3

Other than that, there aren't too many dragon related games out there that hold my attention. Too many of them are focused on slaying dragons, or just riding them, when I want to play as one! There's also the problem of them not really being games. (In my opinion anyways.) A lot of browser based games have this problem.

The was this one MMO too, Istaria, that does let you play as a dragon. But I recommend that you DON'T play it. You need a paid subscription to have access to the dragon characters, and it's not worth it. The game looks like it was made ten years ago and hasn't updated since. It's a very amateurish quality and has a whole host of overall gameplay issues. I had a LOT of frustration when trying to get into that game. It's just SO grindy, it takes forever to do anything or go anywhere... Bah!

Yeah, recently learned about it as well and i cant wait to play it! The animations are incredible, i love the transition from sprinting to flying, its so smooth!

I just wish females would have a bit bigger horn, those nubs are terrible compared to teh fancy male ones.

Dragon Cave is my favorite dragon game, but I do pop into Flight Rising now and then.

I've yet to find a legit dragon game that lets you play as a dragon, not sure why there aren't that many to begin with but who knows...

There’s a flash game(I think?) that I liked to play when I was younger called How to Raise a Dragon. It has four stages where you play as a hatchling, adolescent, adult, and a knight(this one heavily determines your ending). There are quite a few endings, but you ultimately decide how it ends.

Choice of The Dragon is a fun text based choose-your-adventure game. You play as a young dragon who encounters a kingdom and progress through a storyline filled with fantasy shenanigans. Your choices affect the personality and abilities of your dragon, which is pretty neat. You can be a beast that destroys villages for fun, become a thustworthy protector, a cunning smooth talker, and everything in between.

Does Dragalia Lost count? It’s a mobile gatcha rpg with human characters, but dragons are an extremely important part of the lore, and are their own characters. One of the main mechanics is transforming into your dragons so you can totally wreck enemies and bosses. It’s fun, and the catchy music slaps.

About Day of Dragons, I found something very similar, but it actually has a good chance of making it out of development. It’s called Draconia. It’s not out yet, but the developers are being very transparent about its progress, and give out frequent updates and pictures on what they’re working on. It’s also a survival game where you play as dragons, but there’s a variety you can pick from. There’s no set release date, but they’re planning to release it on Steam, and it already has its own Steam page :)
