Why, you ask? Because today there was a buff to Pixpet hatching interactions. Previously, 1 hatch-helping would knock 10 minutes off a Pixpet's hatching time - as of 8/12, it now takes off 20 minutes!
This opens up an interesting, interaction-based avenue for hatching PixPets with short hatching times. Troffinch is currently the fastest-hatching Pixpet on the site, requiring 9 hours of incubation time, or 540 minutes. Before the buff, to instant-hatch a Troffinch with nothing but interactions, you'd need 54 people to interact with it; definitely a little much to organize.
With this new buff, you'd only need 27 interactions, a MUCH more manageable amount.

In just under 2 and a half hours, the troffinch "Dang That Was Fast" was born after 20 interactions!

and it hatched five seconds before this message! 20 interactions total.
