Have a green thumb that yearns to be satisfied beyond pumpkins and common household plants? Well, do I have the suggestion for you! Basically, hunting for mushrooms, especially those black mushrooms, can be tedious at best and frustrating at worst. A possible mechanic could be mushroom planters, similar to the plant pots that we already have, which would allow players to grow their own mushrooms. But wait! What about the hoarding mechanic to find them? Wouldn’t this have the chance to produce too many mushrooms? Well, yes. This mushroom planting mechanic would have to be rather limited - maybe one planter space (or none) for early houses, and a max of three in the end game houses. Growth time could be slow as well, with a limited harvest. Where would you get the seeds? You wouldn’t. Instead of using seeds, you’d use the mushroom item in the planter, consuming the item and putting spores into the planter. You’d have to have at least a x2 return to make it worth while with the item consumed, however What about fertilizers? Mushroom planters could use their own fertilizer, which could be a crafting recipe or a hoard find. It would likely follow the same types as plants and pumpkins. Where could you get the planters? Hoard finds, neutral? Or a house specific function like pumpkins. |

I have a feeling more mushrooms will be added in the future and black mushrooms right now are a pain. this mechanic should be real limited as you said, but this would add an element of control to something that right now is totally rng. and a new function for neutral capsules is much needed :p support! |

Sorry if i go ahead and get my brain working on details to this interesting (hopefully soon-to-be) feature. There could be also good-old fashion champignons aka brown mushrooms for extra food pellets (should give more than pumpkins, but not too much), just so you have a general use for the mushroom cave/basement and dont have to leave it empty when you run out of planter for green/black/whaterver. Also, placement wise, would it be just another pre-placed thing like the pumpkin spots or more like the Plant Pots? Since mushrooms are usually grown in caves or basements, i think basing it on Plant Pots is better. Maybe a hatch that visual leads to a basement/cave? (so it could be placed inside as well....for making dungeons and so) The hatch could function the same like a Pot and can come in different designs (neutral capsule) and colors (colored capsule). Would avoid redesigning certain house areas just to throw in a spot for mushrooms like pumpkins have. How does it sound? corrections? additions? |

Extra food income wouldn’t hurt at all, and could make good use of those basement rooms that you can’t put much else in. |
