I got java moss, sphagnum moss, imperial moss, Irish moss and the most exciting~pillow moss from my grans place! ik this is kinda lame but it makes me happy so i decided to share as i wondered if any of yall collect moss. uwu |

I know that sphagnum moss is sometimes used for growing plants that prefer wet/waterlogged soil (like some carnivorous plants) but I personally don't know about any of the other types of moss |

However other than being cute and fluffy additions to my ever-increasing collection of plants! I also like to dry sphanum+imperial moss as tea! It is bitter and earthy and tastes great with basil/tickseed/or nasturtium! (those are my fav combos but I'm sure others would work) The thing is you need to clean it well and you have to be sure it wasn't grown near anything that you wouldn't put in your mouth as moss sucks up all the stuff in the ground around it and if there was something nasty around it you can get sick. so if yall wanna try, just be careful. also, moss is great to put epiphytes in! (epiphytes are plants that don't need soil to grow btw) so most of my air plants rest atop a bed of moss uwu @Lorienee dude the best thing about moss is that it doesn't rlly need much space/nutrients to grow! you can find it in cities anywhere its moist enough to survive! my tip is to look near where walls meet the sidewalk and around the drainage pipes that come off your roof! |
